PHE Siak starts drilling of Kumis-2 well

Upstream company PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) through subsidiary PT Pertamina Hulu Energi Siak (PHE Siak) started on Thursday drilling of the Kumis-2 exploration well at Kumis field in Siak block, Riau Province.

“The Kumis-2 well is one of the exploration targets of PHE in 2018 through subsidiary PHE Siak. This is part of PHE’s commitment to find new oil and gas reserves,” said Director of Exploration at PHE, Abdul Mutalib Masdar in a statement obtained Friday.

The statement said that in the drilling program of the Kumis-2 well, which is expected to complete in 27 days, PHE Siak aims for a final depth of 900 feet with the main target of finding oil.

“The Kumis-2 exploration well is estimated to have recoverable reserves of 2.10 MMBO, and is expected to be able to add production by an average of 200-300 BOPD in Siak block, which has an oil production target of 1,805 BOPD in 2018, but which is expected to be surpassed again as in 2017,” said General Manager of PHE Siak Nana Heriana in the statement.

The statement said that as the Kumis field contains heavy oil, it will require the Huff&Puff thermal method to stimulate the well via high pressure and temperature steam injection.
